Support : DialogLink : Online Help : MAP MAP (continued) EX or EXS Option
If EX (EXECUTE) or EXS (EXECUTE STEPS) is included as a parameter in a MAP command, the system will EXECUTE the SearchSave immediately, in the database to which you are connected.
EX, EXS, and STEPSThe EX option always creates a single, final set when the SearchSave EXECUTEs, regardless of whether STEPS is included in the MAP command. Using STEPS with the EXS option will affect how EXS operates. If STEPS is not included, the MAP command creates SELECT commands containing multiple search terms, and EXS creates a single, numbered set for each of those SELECT statements. If STEPS is included, the MAP command creates a SELECT statement for every term in the SearchSave, and EXS therefore generates a numbered set for every term. There is a 999-set limit on a single MAP command; if your strategy exceeds this limit, use the EX option. In the following example, the same search from the previous section is performed but the EXS option is added to the MAP command The EXS option causes the strategy to be executed immediately. • To use the EXS option: File 348:EUROPEAN PATENTS 1978-2007/ 200809
