Support : DialogLink : Online Help : Summary of PRINT Command Options

PRINT (continued)

Print Command Options

The following options can be used with the PRINT command.

Dialog ERA™ (Electronic Redistribution and Archiving) Options

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> ARCHIVE n
    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> COPIES n
    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> REDIST n
Example: PRINT S2/5/ALL COPIES 50

You can electronically store and distribute Dialog search results, or receive paper copies to disseminate within your organization.

OneSearch® Option

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items>/<SORT codes>
    <PORT> <SOLO> FROM <file number(s)>

Example: PRINT S2/5/ALL/AU/TI PORT SOLO FROM 47

Use the FROM option to print results from selected files within a OneSearch session; the FROM option must be the last element in your command line.

TAG Option

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> TAG

Example: PRINT S4/7/1-25 TAG

In databases offering user-defined formats, you can print search output in TAG format, with each field labeled.

PRO (PRINT RESULTS ONLY) Option

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> PRO

Example: PRINT S3/9/ALL/PRO

Use PRO to request output that doesn’t contain the search history.

ADDRESS Option

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> ADDRESS <Axxxx>

Example: PRINT S3/3/ALL ADDRESS AAJONES

Your results can be mailed to an alternate address that you have created.

Layout Options

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items>/PORT
    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items>/SOLO
    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items>/PORT SOLO

Example: PRINT S2/5/1-50 PORT SOLO

You can customize the layout of your printed pages sent by postal delivery using PORT to request vertical sheets of paper, SOLO to request that each record begin on a new sheet of paper, or both.

HTML Option

    PRINT <Sn>/<format>/<items> HTML ADDR <nnnn>

Example: PRINT S2/5/1-50 HTML ADDR <nnnn>

HTML allows for PRINTs to be delivered with simple HTML formatting. This option is most often used for sending emailed PRINTs directly to an intranet or other Web-based environment.

The XSLT Qualifier with the PRINT Command

    PRINT <set number>/<format>/<items> <XSLT template name> ADDR <EMAIL ADDESS>

Example: PRINT S1/FULL/1-50 XSLT Biomed ADDR MyAddress (where biomed is a saved Word template)

An XSLT template file may be used to apply formatting to an Alert (Custom email Alert). The resulting Alert is delivered in HMTL format which may then be converted into Word. For more information on using a Word template to create a Custom email Alert, see The DialogLink 5 User Guide under XSLT for more information. The above example will deliver Alert results from a biomed file in newsletter format to the MyAddress e-mail group. Note that you must use an XSLT file.
