New Author/Inventor Field in DWPI

In Derwent World Patents Index, a new search and display code (IV) may now be used for the Inventor Name in both the Invention Level patent section, as well as in the Member Level original patent filing details section of a record. The IV field will contain the complete inventor name from the original filings. For example,

?EXPAND IV=MINK, D

will retrieve records showing the complete inventor's name Daniel Mink.

Note: The AU= field for inventor is still searchable but the inventor can only be displayed using the IV display code.

Get Ready for DWPI
Sign up now for an online briefing providing an overview of major changes in the new expanded and enhanced Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) database on Dialog coming soon. A series of WebEx briefings are scheduled between June 21 and June 27 in the U.S., and online sessions are also available in German, English, Spanish and French. You can register for a briefing at support.dialog.com/training/remote.

For more training on the new DWPI, practice using the ONTAP® DWPI (File 280), a training version of DWPI. File 280, available free of DialUnit, Connect Time and Output charges, has been completely updated with patents in the new enhanced format. Sample practice searches are available for you to try.
