Patent Assignee Codes

To obtain all patents for a particular patent assignee in Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPISM), it is easy to use the 4-digit patent assignee code. Companies, which regularly file a large number of patent applications, are regarded as “standard” companies and assigned a unique four-letter code. If you don’t know the code, Thomson Scientific has a handy Patentee Codes Lookup feature to provide the code for you.

For example, to find the code for Exxon Mobile, click the company box and enter the name of the company “Exxon.” A list of all company names will display along with the code, in this case ESSO.

Note: To retrieve only the standard company code, add a space at the end of the company name in the company name box.
