Find Members of a Corporate Family and Identify Its Headquarters?

TOPIC: In this example we are looking for companies in General Motors' Corporate family, as well as the ultimate headquarters for the company. We will perform the search in D&B—Dun's Market Identifiers® (File 516).

D&B—Dun's Market Identifiers (File 516) provides indexing that allows you to link parent companies with their subsidiaries, divisions, manufacturing facilities and branches. The key lies in understanding the D-U-N-S Number system.

DN= (Company D-U-N-S) Retrieves that particular location.
DH= (Headquarters D-U-N-S) Retrieves all the branches of the headquarters location.
DP= (Parent D-U-N-S) Retrieves all subsidiary locations reporting to that parent.
DC= (Ultimate D-U-N-S) May be used only with the Corporate Family D-U-N-S Number and retrieves all corporate family members, including the top location.
