Search for an Exact Copyright Title? TOPIC: A copyright is defined as the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, and sell the matter and form of a literary, musical, or artistic work. U.S. Copyrights (File 120) provides access to registration details for all active copyright and mask-work registrations or renewals granted by the U.S. Copyright Office from January 1, 1978 to the present. The database is a fast screening tool for checking the ownership and registration status of a particular work, as well as a particular individual's or entity's portfolio of registered works. In this example you know the exact title of a song sung by Barry Manilow, and you want to see if the song is a registered copyright. Note that the title and named title fields are both word and phrase index. Use the limits /TF and /NF without proximity connectors.
