Limit a Search By Record Type? TOPIC: A copyright is defined as the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, and sell the matter and form of a literary, musical, or artistic work. There are three types of copyright records: U.S. Copyrights (File 120) provides access to registration details for all active copyright and mask-work registrations or renewals granted by the U.S. Copyright Office from January 1, 1978 to the present. The database is a fast screening tool for checking the ownership and registration status of a particular work, as well as a particular individual's or entity's portfolio of registered works. In this example you will search for a song title both as an initial registration or renewal (/C) and as a legal document (/D), limiting each search by record type. If this were a serial publication, you could limit using /S.
