Limit a Search By Record Type?

TOPIC: A copyright is defined as the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, and sell the matter and form of a literary, musical, or artistic work. There are three types of copyright records:

1. monograph records (/C)
2. serial records (/S)
3. legal document records (/D)

The Dialog copyright file lets you limit the search to the particular type of record you want.

U.S. Copyrights (File 120) provides access to registration details for all active copyright and mask-work registrations or renewals granted by the U.S. Copyright Office from January 1, 1978 to the present. The database is a fast screening tool for checking the ownership and registration status of a particular work, as well as a particular individual's or entity's portfolio of registered works.

In this example you will search for a song title both as an initial registration or renewal (/C) and as a legal document (/D), limiting each search by record type. If this were a serial publication, you could limit using /S.
