Searching for Patent Assignees

Now, let's look at Brian's request again. He wants information on the patent assignee Oddzon. We again use the EXPAND command in File 351 to pick up all possible entries of Oddzon in the database.

Here's how it will look.

Step 1:

EXPAND using the appropriate prefix and term:

e pa=oddzon

We see that there are seven entries for Oddzon. Note that some entries spell out the word PRODUCTS and others abbreviate the word.

Search Tip 4-5:

Names are sometimes abbreviated in the database index. To make sure we retrieve all entries, it is sometimes necessary to EXPAND using a shortened form of the name (e.g., Bell Tel for Bell Telephone Labs).
