Locating Company Analyst Reports

Investext contains three types (sub-files) of analyst reports: company, industry research, and topical reports. Because Bev wants information about Alcoa, I can restrict my search to the "company report" sub-file.

Tip 4-1

I will enter my SELECT statement in the command text box next.

I restrict my search to Alcoa using the suffix /CO. This restricts the search to include companies that are the focus of the report.

Tip 4-2

I also restrict to a single year using PY=2010. The search command will look like this:

   select alcoa/co and py=2010 and sf=company

I click the submit button to execute the search.

Search Tip 4-1:

Investext is divided into three sub-files: company, industry, and topical.

We can restrict our search to one of the sub-files by using the SF=prefix.

Example:
select sf=company
select sf=industry
select sf=topical

Search Tip 4-2:

Use the Suffix /CO and append it to the company name to retrieve records about the company.

You can also use the prefix CO=; however, it is a good idea to use the EXPAND command to verify the entry.

Example:
select burger(w)king/co
expand co=burger king
