Lesson 2: IMS R&D Focus (File 445/955)Objectives After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
Introduction In Lesson 1, we received an overview of the types of data typically found in the pipeline directory databases. We also looked at Dialog databases that cover drug development from inception to post-marketing. Throughout the course, Sharon, a scientist, will be asking Ric, an expert searcher, to find specific pieces of data necessary for her research. Ric will be using the database that best supplies what Sharon needs. In Lesson 2, Ric will be using IMS R&D Focus, File 445. This database is one of the most comprehensive sources of drug information, including lab code, pharmacological action, trade name, and market data.
The first file I turn to is IMS R&D Focus (Dialog File 445). Because it is so comprehensive, it is one of the major directory files for drugs and the pipeline. Produced by IMS Health, IMS R&D Focus provides the latest scientific and commercial developments in international pharmaceutical research and development. This all-purpose database will allow me to obtain just the profile of vatalanib that Sharon is interested in. I can also get the latest news as well. Go to the next page to review the details of File 445. 2-1 |
