Dialog DataStar Adds Enhancements
Postprocessing with ResearchSoft on Dialog DataStarWeb and Dialog DataStar Classic on the Web
Now you can export documents automatically from Dialog DataStarWeb or Dialog DataStar Classic on the Web into an ISI ResearchSoft application, such as EndNote, ProCite or Reference Manager.
Some of Dialog DataStar's most widely used databases including the biomedical files EMBASE®, MEDLINE®, and BIOSIS Previews® have been configured to be exported so you can manage your references collected from Dialog DataStar. Additional databases will follow.
If you have one of the programs installed on your computer, the option to Export to ResearchSoft will appear on the Document and Titles pages for the databases that have been enabled. However, if a postprocessing application has not been installed, you can still save the document(s) locally with an RIS extension.
Dialog DataStarWeb Thesauri Enhancement
Dialog DataStarWeb has added top-level Tree Facets to the thesaurus for MEDLINE®, EMBASE® and Cinahl®. The new changes mirror the hard copy supplied by the information providers.
New graphics and links help you navigate easier:
- Top-level categories are always visible and the chosen term for tree expansion is displayed in bold.
- The tree can be expanded or collapsed by clicking on a plus or minus sign respectively.
- You can click on any term and see the tree structure for that particular term only. If you check one of the options—Explode, Major or Subheadings—the descriptor is checked automatically.
- A small yellow icon, known as ScopeNotes, is displayed next to all descriptor terms. It contains helpful information about the term listing the date it was introduced by the information provider, use of the term and additional synonyms.
- You can access the thesaurus by checking the Thesaurus Mapping box, by entering a term or by using the browsing function.
Other Dialog DataStarWeb Enhancements
- A Print Preview button added on the Titles page lets you print documents directly from your browser. The banners and buttons on the Print Preview page have been removed to enhance visibility of the documents.
- You can now save documents from both the Document and Titles pages of DataStarWeb in HTML, ASCII, RTF and PDF format without displaying them first.
- On the Document page, you can save the entire search strategy, only relevant parts of the strategy or eliminate the search strategy when saving in the different file formats.
- Search terms can be highlighted in 1 of 11 different colors for quick visual recognition. The highlighted, colored term appear on the Titles, Document or Print Preview pages or in documents saved in HTML or PDF format. To select a color, go to the Options page on Dialog DataStarWeb. This option is not available for RTF or TXT formats.
