File Order List for IDPAT Command on Dialog Expanded

The IDPAT command, Dialog's proprietary duplicate detection system for patents, has been enhanced to expand the preferred file processing order list. The list now includes CLAIMS®/U.S. Patents (File 340), Derwent World Patents Index Extension (DWPIX) (File 350) and Derwent World Patents Index First View (File 331). These additional files will be used for matching similar technologies, and you can define which patent collection to view when a duplicate patent record is detected.

The purpose of the order list is to ensure that files containing fewer countries or patents per record are processed against files containing larger families. You benefit with greater accuracy in identifying duplicate patents.

Note that some patent files are not represented in this list. This simply means that they normally contain only one patent number, so will be compared to files containing multiple patents. You still have the option to override the preferred file processing order.

Please see www.dialogweb.com/help/CmdIDPAT.html for a description of the IDPAT service.

Following is a complete list of preferred files:

  • INPADOC (File 345)
  • Chinese Patent Abstracts (File 344)
  • Derwent World Patents Index (File 351)
  • Derwent World Patents Index – Japan  (File 352)
  • Derwent World Patents Index Extension (DWPIX) (File 350)
  • Derwent Patents Citation Index (File 342)
  • European Patents Fulltext (File 348)
  • CLAIMS®/U.S. PATENTS (File 340)
  • Derwent World Patents Index First View™ (File 331)
