Dialog Expands Materials, Engineering and Environmental Content

Dialog continues its roll out of CSA content to include additional materials science and high technology databases, as well as engineering and environmental files, bringing the total number of CSA files on Dialog to 25.

Materials and High Technology Files

Eight additional CSA files, covering materials and high technology, are now available with all of the value-added services provided through Dialog. The new files are available on a transactional basis and by subscription.

Each database has deep coverage of the subject and is focused from the point of view of professional societies (e.g., American Ceramics Society and British Ceramics Society) who are important to the literature of the subject area. Moreover, each record is reviewed and indexed by an editor knowledgeable in the field. Coverage ranges from technical literature and industry information on the entire aluminum industry in Aluminium Industry Abstracts (File 46) to boutique files such as Corrosion Abstracts (File 46), providing scientists and engineers with a resource for solving corrosion problems by reviewing the documented experiences of others in the form of summarized findings.

Note: Review "Dialog Strengthens Sci-Tech Collection with Addition of CSA Databases" in the Chronolog (Issue 3, June 2005) for more details on other CSA materials files on Dialog.

Engineering Content

Engineering content from CSA focuses on four new specialty files, including Earthquake Engineering Abstracts (File 134) and Mechanical & Transportation Engineering Abstracts (File 14) and provides in-depth coverage of their subject areas. For example, BioEngineering Abstracts (File 136), another of the new CSA files, contains worldwide literature sources of research, applications, regulatory developments and new patents across all areas of bioengineering including medical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, environmental and marine biology. These files are available on a transactional basis and by subscription.

Environmental Content

Seven environmental sciences databases, including CSA Life Sciences Abstracts (File 24), Pollution Abstracts (File 41), Oceanic Abstracts (File 28) and Environmental Sciences (File 76), contain research ranging from agriculture, biotechnology and air quality to waste management and water resource to meteorology and pollution issues. The files include scientific journals, conference proceedings, reports, monographs, books, translations and government publications.

As well as in-depth content, custom CSA report templates, eLinks and links to related research materials are available for CSA files through DialogLink 5. Searchers can use the custom templates to quickly process their research into a desired format, such as Microsoft® Word or Microsoft® Excel, for distribution to customers, managers and others in their organization.

To learn more about the coverage of each file including links to the Bluesheets, check the Dialog Web site.
