SAVE (continued)

FROM Option

Availability: DialogClassic Web*
DialogLink 5*
DialogClassic
DialogWeb—Command
*

*See Usage Notes

When using OneSearch, if you enter SAVE ALERT, the Dialog Alert profile is stored in all the files searched. Use the FROM option to store the profile in one or more designated files, e.g., SAVE ALERT FROM 11, 7. You can also use FROM to create or edit Alerts while in a free file; however, this does not allow you to check the retrieval of the strategy.

The SAVE ALERT command stores any of the commands listed below that you have entered since your last BEGIN command, and uses them when the Dialog Alert is run:

Commands Stored with SAVE ALERT

IDENTIFY DUPLICATES
IDENTIFY DUPLICATES ONLY
PRINT
PRINT TITLE
REMOVE DUPLICATES
SELECT
SELECT STEPS
SET
SORT

SAVE ALERT does not store commands (e.g., EXPAND, DISPLAY SETS, RANK, TYPE) other than those listed above.

SAVE ALERT Shortcuts

You can include your scheduling choice and Alert name in the SAVE ALERT command line to bypass these prompts when creating an Alert.

• To include your scheduling choice:

To bypass the first prompt, enter

    SAVE ALERT <name> UPDATE or
    SAVE ALERT <name> CUSTOM

The frequency may be entered at the same time:

    SAVE ALERT <name> CUSTOM WEEK

If a frequency is entered without UPDATE or CUSTOM, the system prompts you to choose between an Update or Custom schedule: U=Update or C=Custom. Frequency shortcuts include: MONTH, BIWEEK (also applies to twice-a-month), WEEK, DAY (or DAILY), and INTRADAY (or HOUR).

• To include a name for the Alert:

To name the Alert in the SAVE ALERT command, enter

    SAVE ALERT JENNY

To combine scheduling and naming in the command:

    SAVE ALERT JENNY CUSTOM WEEK

To include the FROM option, always enter it at the end of the command:

SAVE ALERT JENNY CUSTOM WEEK FROM 2,6

• To "stack" responses to Alert prompts:

It is possible to stack responses to the Alert prompts once you are familiar with them and can anticipate which prompts will be presented. Separate the responses with semicolons. For example:

File 16:Gale Group PROMT(R) 1990-2008/Mar 11
       (c) 2008 The Gale Group
>>>CURRENT started

      Set Items Description
