Searching for Pharmaceutical Information Using DialogWeb—Guided Search

The series of pharmaceutical courses using DialogWeb—Guided Search enables the novice searcher who is unfamiliar with Dialog command language to review databases and search strategies for searches most often conducted as drugs move through the drug development pipeline. Command language searchers will also find the command summaries for each search useful as they plan strategies for different applications in their pharmaceutical research.

Each course has three parts: an Introduction to the DialogWeb—Guided Search interface and a brief discussion of the drug pipeline and sources of information about drugs in each phase. Part 2 contains a description of databases and step-by-step searches for the different phases of development, and Part 3 provides suggestions about other courses and where to get search assistance. The courses are flexible in that you can review the entire course as you begin the series and then focus on Part 2 of each subsequent course to see the unique databases and search strategies for that stage in the development process.

Selecting Dialog Databases Using DialogWeb—Guided Search
The course covers tools for selecting databases on Dialog and includes specific examples using the DialogWeb—Guided Search subject categories. It is the starting point for searching using DialogWeb—Guided Search. No previous experience with Dialog or online searching is necessary. Audio narration is in American English.
